Diagnostic equipment

Humphrey field analyser

Computerised analysis of the visual field, or perimetry, is used to diagnose and monitor many eye diseases, in particular glaucoma, and to assess the existence or progression of neurological pathologies of the eye.

Optical coherence tomography (OCT)

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a modern ocular imaging procedure that provides non-invasive cross-sectional images of the eye in just a few seconds, with the option of reconstruction. This examination is particularly useful for diagnosing and monitoring pathologies of the macula (age-related macular degeneration, diabetes, thrombosis, etc.) or the optic nerve (glaucoma, etc.). OCT can also be used to analyse the cornea and the iridocorneal angle.

Retinography

Retinography is a modern way of examining the retina (or back of the eye). It complements biomicroscopic examinations and provides precise, objective information to monitor changes in the retina over time.

Optical biometry

Ocular biometry is the method used to measure the morphology of your eye before cataract surgery: length of the eye, thickness of the cataract and depth of the anterior segment. It is an essential part of the pre-operative assessment, as these measurements are used to calculate the power of the intraocular lens (IOL) that will replace the crystalline lens.

Specular microscopy

The specular microscope enables automatic image acquisition and analysis of corneal endothelial cells without contact with the eye.

Topographic keratometry

Corneal topography is a technology used to study the cornea. The Pentacam is one of the most complete topographers available, enabling both the anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea to be assessed.

Portable refractometer

This device, which is particularly suitable for young children, measures the refractive characteristics of the eyes.

Indirect ophthalmoscope

Indirect ophthalmoscopes enable a thorough examination of the back of the eye, particularly in the case of very small children.

Therapeutic equipment

YAG laser

YAG LASER is used to treat or prevent angle-closure glaucoma (iridotomy) and to treat secondary cataracts (capsulotomy).

Laser ARGON

The Argon laser is a retinal photo coagulator. This means that the energy it delivers is used to cauterise the retina in order to treat diseased areas: retinal tears, diabetic retinopathy, vein occlusion, etc.

Laser SLT

SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculplasty) is a technique used to perform a plastie (i.e. a modification of the structure, or remodelling) of the trabeculum (the area where the aqueous humour is eliminated). SLT is a laser indicated for the treatment of ocular hypertonia (increased pressure inside the eye) and glaucoma at various stages of the disease.

Operating theatres

The surgeons at the Le Verseau clinic are equipped with the very best equipment (Zeiss Callisto microscope, Centurion phacoemulsifier, etc.) to perform cataract surgery, intravitreal injections and minor eyelid surgery.
